Community & ESG
A strong sense of community and giving back is firmly rooted within the FPC team. We are committed to serving others in ways that we believe are meaningful and impactful, and are proud of what we do both in and outside of the office. We also have a fundamental ethical and investment belief in responsible behavior. We seek to execute this belief across our firm’s culture, general business practices, investment considerations, the general partners with which we invest, and the portfolio companies with which we interface.
Serving Lunch to Exceptional, Driven Youth in our Community
Five Points had a wonderful time serving lunch again at the Winston-Salem Street School (WSSS), which is private area alternative high school serving at-risk youth that is designed to meet the needs of students who struggled in traditional schools due to academic or behavioral obstacles, and offers them the chance to earn a diploma recognized by the State of NC. Packaging Healthy Meals for Local Children, Seniors and Neighbors Living with Disabilities
The Community Meals kitchen focuses on packaging healthy, well-balanced meal trays (in most cases delivered that same day) to children, seniors, and neighbors living with disabilities. The Community Meals team, with the help of volunteers, packages 12,000+ meals per week serving 17 counties (which includes serving meals on wheels and schools). The Reynolda Equity team had the pleasure of spending the afternoon supporting this wonderful operation.
Supporting Veterans and Children in our Community
For the third time, Five Points Capital turned a team building activity into support for children in our community by doing a team bike build contest in our office then donating the 21 bikes (with helmets) we built to Toys for Tots. We are proud to support our local community and veterans, and the bikes we built helped Toys for Tots fill the 180 requests they received for children’s bikes during the 2024 holiday season.
Continuing to Support Hurricane Helene Relief Efforts for Western NC
Our team partnered with several organizations through a local mayor’s office and Hurricane Helene Airlift Relief to provide a truckload of needed supplies and items to those affected by Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina. The items we donated were flown by Hurricane Helene Airlift Relief volunteers directly to drop sites in Asheville, NC and the surrounding areas. Hurricane Helene Airlift Relief, which largely includes volunteers flying their own planes, had been making over 100 flights per day from Statesville to Asheville to bring supplies in.
Supporting Hurricane Helene Relief Efforts
The majority of our group helped pack 660 emergency shelf stable boxes that were being sent to Ashe and surrounding counties in North Carolina to people who do not have access to food and are in the heart of the high country’s devastation. Each box contained 5 meals for one person and were going to be driven into the areas on ATVs (the only way other than air to reach most of these people in need). The rest of our team prepared lunches for firemen and frontline workers who are working to help those in the affected areas. Those meals were being the next day. While it was another great experience with our team out in the community, it highlights that what we do in our community matters.
Helping to Build Homes in our Community
We had a productive day out in the community working alongside some Habitat and AmeriCorps team members and got to know some “care-a-vanners” (a Habitat program for retired folks who have RVs/campers and travel the country visiting Habitat affiliates for 2 weeks at a time). We worked on siding, door installation, flooring and brick relocation – honing in on some skills we’ve developed over the years volunteering with Habitat and learning some new ones.
Providing Meals to the Local Community
For a second time, Five Points provided and served lunch at the Winston-Salem Street School (“WSSS”). As a reminder, the WSSS a private alternative high school with a small, “intensive care” educational environment serving the at-risk youth of the greater Winston Salem area of North Carolina. It is designed to meet the needs of students who struggled in traditional schools due to academic or behavioral obstacles. The WSSS was created to target these students and offers them the chance to earn a diploma recognized by the State of North Carolina.
Sorting Food for Community Partners Serving 14 Counties
The Five Points team spent the majority of a day this Winter sorting both dry goods and frozen foods, then packaged them for community partners to pickup to distribute to people in need. Second Harvest Food Bank of NWNC moves between 35 – 40 tons of food through their warehouses every day, then out to their network of ~500 partner programs (supporting 14 counties), many of which rely on that location for the majority of the food they provide.

Winston-Salem Heart and Stroke Walk “Best Friend Friday” Sponsor
Five Points supports our community and various causes throughout the year and in many different ways. Five Points is participating as a sponsor for this year’s Winston-Salem Heart and Stroke Walk on Sunday, October 23. Specifically, Five Points is the sponsor of “Best Friend Friday.” During the “Week of Wellness” leading up to the walk, the American Heart Association will promote how owning a pet can benefit heart health. They will encourage participants to bring their dogs to the walk and on walk day, they will host a “Top Dog” contest for people to have photos taken of their dog (which they will post on social media), and the dog with the most “Likes” wins!
2022 Habitat for Humanity Team Service Day
Our team enjoyed partnering with Habitat for Humanity again to work on 4 homes in our community. We refined our rebar, roofing, truss, flooring and fascia skills. The neighborhood that we have served in for the last two years is a new development of 74 planned homes, of which 6 have been completed. We worked on 3 of those homes in 2021 and have enjoyed seeing and being a part of the progress this Habitat neighborhood is making.

Samaritan Ministries Young Professionals Night at The Winston-Salem Dash Sponsorship
Five Points Capital sponsored the “Home Runs for Project Cornerstone” Young Samaritans event for Samaritan Ministries on Friday, May 6th at the Dash game.
Samaritan Ministries focuses on homelessness within Winston-Salem (https://www.samaritanforsyth.org/about/). Five Points has supported their mission with charitable donations and in-person volunteering in the past, but this event was a way to activate and educate people who may not be as aware of what Samaritan is doing in our community. This event was through their “Young Samaritans” program, which serves to build awareness among a younger set of professionals in the area.
Project Cornerstone is a long-term residential recovery program serving men with a history of substance abuse who are also experiencing homelessness. Project Cornerstone focuses on addressing addiction as one of the core causes of homelessness and helping eliminate barriers to employment and permanent housing. The program has an 80% success rate.
